Why was the zoom-out shortcut change? It use to just be Alt+Space in 5.5, now it's Ctrl+Alt+Space. Is there anyway I can change it back?

It's like getting a newer faster computer!
mwick Posted - 06/11/2009 : 06:03:52
Wow, really very impressive - i just renderes an older model: 3.5x faster, better quality!!!
You really didnt promise too much - 6.0 is far better then before!

You should start a support group or something.

I suddenly feel very inadequate with only 8 processors :-(

Yes, CHUSKY needn't wait until fall to have some fun with that Nehalem

Here's another example of the new Flatten functionality in 6.0.

You're going to have fun with your Nehalem based Mac and 6.0.

Snow Leopard, Strata 6.0... The fall 2009 (hope that it's true about Strata) is so exciting, I can't wait !

and I've come to use this feature daily. It's really helpful

Here's another interesting thing I've forgotten to show a screen grab of. You can really customize a rendering in 6.0 by assigning specific values to specific objects.

If you need more shadow samples on a particular object, you can do that. If you want higher oversampling on a particular object, you can do that.

If you need more raydiosity samples on a particular object, you can do that.

We do not know yet. Once CX 6 has been released the engineers will look into it to see what is needed and if it will be possible to make Vector compatible with the new release.

will strata 3D cx 6 support the vector renderer?
MrChristopher Posted - 06/01/2009 : 14:09:44
Official Strata folks can give you that info. I can't :-(

Is there any estimated release date?

The focus on this release was about overhauling the rendering engine, updating the material system, increasing the functionality of the modeling environment and other general usability enhancements. These areas received significant attention. So animation wasn't the focus of this release but I'm sure more will done with it in the future.
filip c Posted - 05/31/2009 : 17:42:21
Somebody may already have asked this, but what about animation?

I'm a bit concerned that Strata is (almost entirely) focusing on designing (in relationship with the adobe products).
Will there be an upgrade of the animation tools (bones etc.) and possibilities in future versions?

in the spline modeler: many Bezier edit tools can now follow the vector set by a guide: this means I can edit the profile of an extrusion, the path of a path extrusion, or any of the points of a bezier surface using guides. Points will move along guides, as will control handles. (There is a technical reason why bezier 2D region edits do not yet follow guides, but that will likely be added in the future.)

A really nice use of guide editing is adjusting a deformation lattice with guides.

Snapping to grids is more useful now in poly editing because we now have so much more control in placing grids.

Snapping is the same, although the tool is more accessible now. However, there is now a vertex weld function. You can chose a first vertex, select the second then invoke weld and the first snaps to the 2nd's position and welds.

It will also weld to the center a group selection. It's a very handy tool.
