I'm interested in purchasing Foto 3D CX. Can someone tell me how it works? Would I need to take just a photo of the front, sides, top and bottom? Or do I need to photograph a bunch of angles? If so, how many photos do I need to take and how precise do they have to be?

Thanks

basically, you put your object on a turn table with a piece of paper with a printed pattern under it. You put the camera on a tripod a bit higher that the object, then rotate the object through 360 degrees as you photograph it. I believe you need a minimum of 15 shots, plus top and bottom (if needed) but more shots will give you more detail/fidelity in your model. You can, for instance, take specific profiles or silhouettes to get that angle to model more precisely.

Hi,

It depends on the object, but generally Foto 3D CX requires 15 - 20 photographs, taken from various angles all around the object, to create a 3D model of an object.

If the object is small, you can use the included Calibration Mat and a "lazy susan" to get really good photos. For larger objects you can use the Markers feature in place of the Calibration Mat.

There are some very specific instructions for photographing your object in the User Guide, Chapter 5 - The Photo Shoot. Following the instructions will help you produce an accurate model.

You may want to download the trial version of Foto 3D CX to find out if it will work for your particular projects. It's available on our website, and is fully functional for 30 days:
