Edited rainbow - now with Green! by John Nedwidek« Previous Image Last page in History Next Image »
Artist's Comments: After a consultation with my resident rainbow expert, I have added green to the mix. I think she knows what shes talking about. I have also included a faux screenprint version in the image on the right, in an attempt to make the piece look as realistic as possible. I replaced the cyan and magenta channels in the texture with dot-screened versions (with the appropriate screen angles) to get this effect. It looks OK, but Im not sold... yet.

ROY and I are good friends :) I looked at using all 7 primary colors in the rainbow, but four looks better from a design perspective. Now its finding a color palette that works. Ill probably adjust itonce the entire illustration is assembled.

Thanks for the comments guys. Im probably going to stick with solid colors. I have real toys that use both solid and 4c process printing, but I think the solid is a better esthetic choice for this. Also, the dotscreen could cause problems with 4C printing.

Yep, it could use some yellow in that rainbow. The inclusion of screened color is interesting, but on a large production rune, I would suspect that solid pantone colors would be applied. more than just the 4 CMYK colors are used in this sort of work, So you probably would have solid colors unless you really wanted the dotted texture look.
