Artist's Comments: To maintain high temperatures and humidity, it is likely that Bamboo would do best grown in sheltered underground or cliff caverns excavated out of insulating bedrock. There are innumerable uses for fast-growing bamboo plants in an isolated Martian colony that has to source many basic materials itself without relying on infrequent off-planet imports: Oxygen Production, Carbon Dioxide Absorption, Waste Water Purification and Recycling, Compost and Mulch for Soil Generation, Food, Clothing, Utensils.
