Several of you have e-mailed to ask about the "glow dome" technique for lighting. Here's how it's done (and thanks to Michael Luscombe for pointing me toward it):
Lathe an open "cup" over your model. Size and depth, as well as distance from the model, can vary to produce different effects. To this "cup" apply a glow map. The degree of glow can also vary. Usually for my models it's been around .5. Turn off the Ambient Light setting (do this however you light your model, in my opinion!) and global lighting. Experiment to see how internal lighting works for you. Render in Radiosity.
I think that covers it.
